1) Does TEXTfromPDF require any Adobe products?
No! Unlike some of our more expensively priced competitors, TEXTfromPDF does not require any Adobe products in order to extract the text from PDF files.
2) Why is some text not recognized from certain PDF documents?
TEXTfromPDF can only extract true text from a PDF document. Sometimes what appears to be text in a document is actually an image. TEXTfromPDF cannot extract text from images. You'll need to use other software to extract the images from the PDF and then Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to recognize the text contained in the images.
For example, if your PDF document was generated from a scanned document, TEXTfromPDF will not be able to extract the text.
Another possibility is that your PDF document is using Embedded Fonts. To check for this possibility you'll need to use Adobe Acrobat. Go to the Acrobat File Menu and navigate to the "Document Properties" submenu and then to the "Fonts..." option.
3) Why are only the first ten pages of documents being converted?
This is a restriction built in to the evaluation version of TEXTfromPDF. Purchasing a license will remove this restriction and allow you to convert all of the pages without limit.
4) Some documents are not extracted because a password is required. Can I get around this?
PDF documents can be password protected by their authors to prevent unwanted editing of their content. TEXTfromPDF honors this and therefore does not provide a way around this protection. You will not be able to extract these documents without providing the password(s) in the Password window of TEXTfromPDF. You should contact the author of the document to obtain their permission and password(s).
If you are the author of the document and have forgotten your password, there are tools available on the market that allow you work around this. Search for "PDF password recovery" in your favorite search engine.
